Batman V Superman

Here's a stupid question that even I'm not sure if I care about....

Who do you think would win in a fight between....

Batman V Superman

The obvious answer is Superman, I mean he is obviously the better choice on paper. But consider this; every time they ever fight in comic books, Batman wins.

Personally, I would go with Batman. Sounds kinda crazy I know, but think about it, Superman is, to be fair, pretty much dumb muscle. He always outmatched his opponents so much that he never had to be inventive or creative in a fight.

Batman, on the other hand is the opposite. He has no superpowers, so he was forced to be the smartest superhero ever. If you ask me, it wouldn't even be much of a fight, Batman would sneak away from Superman if Superman attacked him and only fight on his terms, when he had the advantage, and only after he had devised or invented something to give himself an overwhelming advantage.

Batman is just too intelligent for Superman to overpower.

Now, I understand this is stupid, but I'm pretty sure I don't care...Yeah, I definitely don't care. Anyways, if anyone has any ideas on this, I'd love to hear your opinions on the matter. Thanks!

New - Old Music

Hey everyone, I just wanted to say that I picked up a bunch of new CDs today and they ROCK.

I got:

INXS - Greatest Hits
Billy Idol - Greatest Hits
Pat Benetar - Greatest Hits
J. Giles Band - Showtime!

They all kick ass! And on that note, so does Best Buy, I swear I could live in that place.

Anyways, I don't know if INXS, Billy Idol, and Pat Benetar are cool or completely lame, but I like all of them and I'm not afraid to say it (I may recant later if I have to - see "backpedal time" blog)

Either way, I just wanted to tell you that Best Buy, living up to it's name, has great deals on all four of these terrific albums, so check 'em out if you like 80's rock like I do. That's it for right now, I've got a lot of music that's not gonna listen to itself.

Oh yeah, is J. Giles Band from the 80's or am I way off here? I really have no idea. For that matter, what about Pat Benetar? I'm completely lost on rock history. Let me know if you have the answers. Thanks!

GTA and censorship

Recently, I've heard, as I'm sure you have, a lot of controversy on the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) video game series. Many people feel that GTA is too violent and sexually explicit for children and should be banned. Well, I have two things to say to these people....

1. You're absolutely right

2. You're completely wrong

The point I'm making is simple. This game is too violent for kids, but that's why you have the ability, actually the obligation to monitor what you child watches and does. I was born in 1984 and I never saw an episode of Married With Children until I was about 18 or 19 years old. Why? Not because it was banned, but because my Mother told me I was not to watch it, and in my house, when Mom or Dad said something, that was the final word on the subject. No argument, no debate. Should we have been able to watch Married With Children when we were younger, I don't know, but what I do know is that my parents didn't need Big Brother to do their parenting for them.

I'm also confused as to why this "sexually explicit material" is considered so offense and detrimental to children. Are people familiar with the game? It's a bloodbath! In the course of normal gameplay, in one day, by my estimate, a player intentionally murders about 200-300 people. Why are the majority of people in this country so adamantly against sex, while accepting such heinous violence as acceptable entertainment. I'm not saying the game should be banned because of the violence either, but that would at least be a more intelligent argument, if you ask me.

Backpedal Time

Well, I made it! I'm on the internet! My Godbrother wrote a blog about me. Cool. Anyways, it inspired me to get back on the web and blog once more.

That being said, I have to clarify/backpedal about what he said. As I recall it, I never stated that Riding in Cars With Boys, is my favorite movie ever. I did say I enjoyed it, but my favorite movie ever, I don't think so buddy-boy! Granted, Riding in Cars With Boys is the definition of a chick-flick, but that doesn't necessarily mean it is a bad movie. That being said, Dave was right, this movie sucks. And if you know me that means a lot, because I hate admitting I'm wrong. In my defense, Drew Barrymore is extremely cute, I just wish she did silent films so we didn't have to listen to her.

Anyways, my favorite movie of all time is probably The Shawshank Redemption, or something like that.

The moral of the story here is never admit that you like a chick-flick even if you do, because you'll never hear the end of it.

Well that's the end of the controversy, now let us never speak of this again, my fragile psyche can't handle the embarassment.

X3/Angel Correction

Newest rumor is that Angel will be in X-men 3. I've just heard a rumor that Ben Foster (The Punisher, Hostage) will be playing Angel. Awesome.

I've also just recently heard that Gambit will be in X3, but only in a very small role, probably similar to Colossus' role in X2. I think this is a good compromise, since many people don't like the character, but many, myself included, consider him one of the best. This way, those of us who love the character get to see him, but those who hate him can still enjoy the movie.

PS: tentative release date for X3 is May 26th 2006 - Memorial day weekend.

Working For The Weekend

Hey everyone, just had something on my mind I wanted to rant about for a minute. Like many people in college, I work at a restaurant, waiting tables, hosting, packaging togo orders, pretty much everything. Like everyone, I've made mistakes at work. The only problem is that when I make a mistake, it affects someone else, in this case the customer. I've had every different reaction, from being yelled at to being apologized to. I just wanted to ask everyone to remember these few things.

  1. We are all human, and we make mistakes. It's not intentional, we weren't trying to spite you.
  2. We are just working. As much as we take pride in our work, it is still a job, and we don't want to be there, any more than you want to be at your job.
  3. Most importantly, treat people the way you would want to be treated. At my job they have a mantra, "treat the customer like a guest in your home" good advice, but I've got something to add to it, "customers; treat your waiter like a friend you are visiting" After all, how would you like it if you had someone gave you an atttitude and even yelled at you everytime you make a mistake at work. It's upsetting, I know, I eat out too, but understand that we are humans that make mistakes, and that we have feelings that can be hurt, even by a customer we trying our best to help.
Thanks!

Movie Rumors

Hey Everyone, I've just found out a bunch of interesting movie rumors I thought you guys might like to know.

  • Microsoft has hired screenwriter Alex Garland, writer of 28 Days Later, to write the script for the much anticipated Halo: The Movie, and is now in the process of choosing a studio to create the film. Cool.
  • Splinter Cell, another awesome video game which is soon to be a movie, will be written and directed by Peter Berg, writer/director of Friday Night Lights. Possible actors to portray the lead character, Sam Fisher, include Mark Walhberg (could be cool) and Kurt Russell (could be lame). The problem I see is the voice, the video game Sam is voiced by the incredible Michael Ironside, who brings a deep, haunting voice that makes the character. I think Keifer Sutherland would be perfect. He is the right age, and could pull off the intimidating voice necessary. Watch 24, Keifer is just BAD ASS.
  • Topher Grace and Thomas Haden Church have been officially cast to be in Spiderman 3. Speculation is that THC would play Venom (I assume that means Topher would be Carnage). Producer Avi Arad has said that their is to make a total of 6 (yes, six) Spiderman movies. I like Spiderman but I think that they're pushing it.
  • A new 'Bourne' movie is reportedly in the works, and Matt Damon has all but officially agreed to starring in one more in the series. The presumed title would be "The Bourne Ultimatum" from the title of the third book in the series. From what I've heard, I don't have much hope for the third, but heck, I said the same about the first sequel, and even the original movie, so what do I know?
  • Daredevil 2 is still being considered. I have a bad feeling about it. I like the original, but it's not the greatest movie ever, and I don't know where the sequel could develop the characters of plot.
  • Hulk 2 is almost a certainty, from what I hear. Why, I have no idea. The first one was a trainwreck and I can't imagine the second could be any better.
  • X-men 3 is about to begin filming any day now. Director Brett Ratner is taking over the series from Bryan Singer, and while I'm weary about an X-men movie without Singer, I'm happy to hear that almost the whole cast is returning for the third with Kelsey Grammar joining the cast as 'The Beast' and Vinnie Jones as 'Juggernaut'. Very Cool. I understand that Angel will not be in the movie in any aspect. Too bad. PS: Producers say that there is almost no chance Gambit will ever be in an X-men movie. It is kind of a bummer, but I know a lot of people don't like Gambit, so I guess it worked out fine.

That's all for now, if anyone has any information or updates let me know. Thanks

First Blog/Random Stuff

Well, here it is; my first blog. I'm not really sure what my goal is here, or if I even have one, but I think writing a blog will be fun and maybe even help me find my way in life, so what the heck, here I go.
I guess I really have nothing of consecquence to say right now, so I'll just start off with some random stuff. Before I do, let me just say that everything I say here, unless otherwise specified is just my opinion, I understand I have extreme opinions, and believe me I won't be upset to hear people disagree with me. LOL, I'm used to it, believe me.

I just wanted to offer up some food for thought in this blog, just to get the ball rolling, somethings I enjoy and think you might too.

Johnny Cash - American IV: The Man Comes Around This is a great CD Johnny made not long before his death with mostly covers and a few new songs, like the title track. There are covers of songs like: Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus, NIN - Hurt, SoundGarden - Rusty Cage, as well as covers from John Lennon, The Eagles, and a lot of other awesome tracks.

Bernie Mac - Maybe You Never Cry Again This is basically an autobiography that reads like a novel about Bernie Mac's incredible life so far. Besides really getting to understand one of the funniest men on the planet, this book gives you a brutally honest look into the hell that many people live in everyday, in our own country. It will make you think.

John Steinbeck - Of Mice and Men I know, everyone has heard of and read this book, but I just couldn't make a list of my favorite things without including this one.

Gods and Generals Just finished watching this movie, and I was mesmerized by it. It's long, sad, and slow moving in parts, but overall I really enjoyed it and it gives you an honest look at life and battle during the Civil War.

Family Guy Seasons 1, 2, and 3 The first three seasons are out on DVD, and the fourth season is now being shown on FOX, what a great time to be alive. This is a guilty pleasure, you feel bad laughing at something so politically incorrect, but you just can't help it.

Sideways Out on DVD. I'm pretty sure I've never seen a movie with Paul Giamatti that I didn't like. I really believe he is the greatest actor of our time. Hopefully he'll get the widespread respect he deserves soon.

Star Wars Episode III - Revenge of the Sith Ok, so it's not A New Hope, or The Empire Strikes Back, but it's a quality movie and I'm looking forward to owning the DVD.
